Outreach Associate VC2--Documentary Journalism Job Location: San Francisco Current TV offers an excellent opportunity for a proven self-starter and master communicator with creative instincts and a desire to move quickly into a role in television development and programming. Do you love to interact with creative people? We’re looking for people who are passionate about television and interactive media, especially Viewer Created Content (VC2.) As a VC2 Outreach Associate—Documentary Journalism, you will be the front lines in our effort to build one of the strongest, but more importantly credible Citizen Journalism products on the planet. You will identify strong story tellers through various online and offline venues, and communicate the opportunities that exist for them through Current. Our citizen journalists include those who have never picked up a video camera to those that are festival award winning creators. You are situated on the front lines of Citizen Journalism—if the future of the developing this form doesn’t interest you, need not apply. Responsibilities

Help guide and advise potential contributors through the creative process of making a “pod.” Develop and follow methods for vetting the quality of our prospective journalists Heavy phone and email correspondence with potential contributors to cultivate awareness for viewer creator opportunities at Current TV. Build relationships and motivate potential contributors to submit future projects. Work with the VC2 programming group to develop new outreach approaches that address programming needs. Perform constant follow-up and relationship management with citizen journalists. Maintain and update database of contacts. Skills

This candidate should have a strong background in daily newsgathering, preferably working in a booking capacity for a major network, newspaper or affiliate Can have limited production experience, but must have the desire to learn more and an interest in becoming an Associate Producer Highly motivated, self-starter with results-driven sales-oriented attitude Excellent oral and written communication skills Proficient in established and emerging online communities and forms of communication. One position will focus heavily in News and Journalism Outreach. * Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience Salary: DOE
