About Janaagraha:

Janaagraha is a not-for-profit institution started in December 2001 by two founders - Ramesh and Swati Ramanathan. From a movement to include people´s participation in public governance it has now evolved into a robust institution for Citizenship and Democracy. It now has an eminent governing board and an active Working Council that makes operational decisions for the organisation.

The responsibilities of a Communications Associate include:

1) Providing support to all strategic planning for the Communications Programme

2) Developing and implementing comprehensive communications plan including consistent outreach to and contact with all stakeholders.

3) Setting and implementing an ongoing visibility campaign highlighting Janaagraha’s programmes, events, and positions on issues.

4) Working with Programme Coordinators to craft effective messages for campaigns and determine appropriate channels.

5) Creating press releases and cultivating relationships with reporters, pitching stories, maintain media database

6) Monitoring news stories and media coverage of Janaagraha.

7) Assisting Programme Coordinators to determine which projects and issues are currently core for Janaagraha and the programme.

8) Overseeing writing, design and production of Janaagraha publications, with primary responsibility for the Janaagraha Times, organizational brochures and other marketing and promotional collateral.

9) Providing support on the development of website and intranet, ensuring that their design is focused on the needs as users and that they are effective communications tools
