The Associated Press seeks an Editor to lead its Entertainment Video department from its New York City headquarters.
This is a new role to lead the consolidation and growth of AP’s position as a market leader in providing Entertainment news video to broadcast and online markets. The person in this role would lead staff in New York, Los Angeles and London, providing video for global markets – but with a focus in the short term of growing market share in the United States. AP is making a large investment in people and technology in all three locations to increase entertainment output, and the person appointed would be expected to ensure this was leveraged to the best effect. The role would work closely with photo and text colleagues to build AP’s overall reputation for entertainment coverage.
QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent knowledge of the entertainment industry – with first-hand experience of celebrity coverage and up-to-date contacts – is required. Knowledge of video newsgathering and production gained through several years working in the broadcast and online markets – ideally both – is also required. First-hand experience of non-linear editing systems for video preferred. Proven track record of leading and inspiring staff, as well as ability to manage large budgets and resource efficiently. Strong communication skills required to champion entertainment coverage across the breadth of the organization globally.
