The San Francisco Jewish Film Festival, the world’s oldest and largest Jewish film festival, has an opening for Festival Volunteer Coordinator for the 28th Annual Film Festival. The Festival July 24 - 31 at the Castro Theatre in San Francisco; August 2 – 9 at the Roda at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre in Berkeley; August 2 - 7 at the CineArts in Palo Alto; and August 9 - 11 at the Smith Rafael Film Center in San Rafael. The Volunteer Coordinators will be responsible for all Festival volunteer recruitment and on-site volunteer supervision in San Francisco, Berkeley and Palo Alto. Two volunteer coordinators will work together to:
• Develop application form and volunteer letter appropriate for ’08 Festival;
• Using JFF volunteer database, craigslist, etc., send mailing to potential volunteers inviting them to a recruitment meeting at each theater;
• Create volunteer packets with general Festival information and guidelines and specific job descriptions;
• Create sign-up sheets for all volunteer roles;
• Run volunteer recruitment meetings in SF, Berkeley and Palo Alto;
• Schedule volunteers for all Festival needs;
• Solicit food donations for volunteer and hospitality lounge in SF and Berkeley;
• Work with box office to develop and manage volunteer voucher system;
• Greet, check-in, train and supervise volunteers at each theatre;
• Write wrap report and attend wrap meeting post Festival;
• Organize modest "thank you" event for volunteers.
Volunteer coordinators will work together to do preliminary organization and outreach. At the Castro, they will work in alternating shifts. When the Festival screens in Berkeley and the Peninsula simultaneously during the second week, each coordinator will be responsible for one theater. Experience managing volunteers essential. Must have excellent organizational skills, patience, a sense of humor and be comfortable with a variety of computer applications.
Start Date: Monday, May 5, 2008
Position is part-time pre-Festival and full-time plus during Festival.
