The Associated Press seeks a Reporter for a three-month assignment beginning June 9, 2008 at its Business News Department in New York City.
This newsperson writes spot company news and stocks activity stories for the Business News desk. This person handles stories on a wide range of business events, including quarterly earnings, acquisitions, restructurings and regulatory actions. This reporter will write a number of stories each day that focus on media, entertainment and leisure companies. He or she will also produce stories based on filings made by companies and investors with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate should be able to quickly distill often complicated information into tight, clear stories, and to work under intense deadline pressure. Applicants should be able to produce copy that meets AP´s high standards for accuracy, balance, clarity and context. Experience in reporting on the media and entertainment industries is preferred and candidates must have at least two years of daily reporting experience. Good communications skills and familiarity with a team approach to work is essential.
