El Dia, the first Spanish daily newspaper located in Houston, TX is offering opportunities to work as professional Reporter/Writer in the area of Sports.

General Job description • Under the direction of the editor, gather and analyze facts about sports events through observation, interviews, or investigations. • Cover all news of professional and local soccer teams from Central America, and United States specially Houston. • Cover news of local, national, and international leagues of American football, basketball, baseball, boxing, and wrestling. • Take photographs of all events that are requested. • Responsible for updating the sport section of the Web site.

Qualifications

• Must be fully bilingual in Spanish and English (Read, Write, and communicate). • Must have minimum one to two years of experience working in the area of sports as reporter of a daily newspaper. • Experience in covering sport news of local, national, and Central America teams. • Ability to work independently and with others to meet deadlines. • Associate or Bachelor degree in Journalism is desired or relevant work experience. • Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays. Regular work schedule Sunday to Thursday 12 pm to 8:30 pm. • Willing to relocate to Houston, TX.
